Basic Knife still Old Reliable, August 28, 2010 J. Shelton (delta) Ka Bar, the trusted knife that helped our Marines, Sailors, and Soldiers win WWII, is still reliable and a high quality tool. Some complained that the knife did not arrive razor sharp. Quit your whining and get a sharpening steel out. A few runs over the sharpening steel and you can literaly shave with this knive. The knife holds an edge very well, and is fairly easy to get the edge back after use. This knife is a step up from the leather handle WWII model, as the leather handle would get slippery when wet. The kraton handle is easy to hold on to. The knife may be heavy to some but this is a tool I can rely on, as it operates well right along side of me. Don't be fooled into thinking that you have to pay huge bucks for a great quality knife.
Wonerfull August 25, 2010 tkdsrg This is a bueatfull knife, the serations are a bit of an eye sore but work perfectly. The leather sheith is very nice also, just has to be worked in a little.
Junk August 22, 2010 Odhin (Asgaard, Florida) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
The K-bar is and always has been junk. Egonomics are screwed. Serrated edges have no business on a field use knife, they are just a technical solution to a training problem. Namely people who can't sharpen a knife. If you can't maintain your tools properly, stay out of the woods, you will die. Or, buy a proper set of sharpening stones and get the thing sharp enough to slice through glass. If the steel will not maintain an edge after moderate use, it is JUNK. This describes this K-Bar. Save your pennies and buy a handmade or quality production knife.
indestructable August 21, 2010 J. Sticher (atlanta) this knife is indestrubtable. sharp as hell, and sturdy beyond words. you won't regret it, come on they make it for marines, nuff said.
Not the sharpest knife... August 11, 2010 Adam (Beaverton, OR United States) I just got this knife in the mail. It looks fantastic, has a great feel. It isnt, however, very sharp. It was a little disappointing when I received this and found out that I had to sharpen it. It certainly isnt the biggest set-back, but like I said, Disappointing. Other than that, It came when it said it would through Amazon and was very pleased with what the description said and what I got. In the end, thats all I ask--is that I get what I paid for.
